What your guest sees
One scan, and the stars are open
The code doesn't open your profile. It opens the review form itself. That saves your guest three taps – and those taps are exactly where most reviews get lost.
Our examples come from cafés and restaurants, but the code works for any business with a Google profile: salon, bakery, auto shop or dental office.
The link
How to find your Google review link
A QR code is only as good as the link inside it. You need the link that opens the review form – not the link to your profile. Google gives it to you in your Business Profile:
- 1Open your profileOn a computer, sign in with the Google account you use to manage your business and open your Business Profile, for example at business.google.com.
- 2“Read Reviews”Click “Read Reviews”. The list of your reviews opens.
- 3“Get more reviews”Select “Get more reviews”. Google now shows your review link – it looks like g.page/r/…/review.
- 4Copy and pasteClick “Copy” and paste the link into the tool above. That's it.
Google changes its screens from time to time. If a button looks a little different for you, look for “Reviews” and “Get more reviews” or the share icon. According to Google, this only works in a browser on a computer, not on your phone. Once you have copied the link, this tool works on your phone too – just email the link to yourself.
Already in your profile? Add your menu to Google MapsWhich link works?
Many owners just copy the link from Google Maps. That only opens your profile, and the guest has to hunt for the review button. The tool checks your link and tells you if it's the right one:
- g.page/r/…/reviewThe review form with the stars. The best link.
- search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=…Also the review form. This is how Google builds the link from your Place ID.
- ChIJ… (Place ID)We turn it into the link to your review form.
- maps.app.goo.gl/… or google.com/maps/…Only your profile in Google Maps. To leave a review, the guest has to scroll and search.
- google.com/search?…A page of search results. The guest has to find you first.
- business.google.com/…Your dashboard. Guests can't get in without your login.
Tip: the shorter the link, the fewer dots the code has – and the easier any phone scans it, even small on a sticker. That's why the tool keeps the short g.page link just as it is.
To be fair
Doesn't Google have its own QR code?
It does. Under “Get more reviews”, Google offers a QR code too – free, and with exactly the same goal. If it's all you need, use it. Here's where it falls short:
Google's QR code
- Only in a browser on a computer, not on your phone
- Only with the login to your Business Profile
- A plain image: right-click to save, the design is up to you
- No ready-made template to set out or print
This tool
- On your phone or computer – once you have the link, no login needed
- Ready templates: table tent, A5 sign, card, sticker
- Your own text, colors and font, stars instead of a logo
- A full A4 sheet to print, plus PNG and SVG
Both codes open the same form. Already have Google's QR code? Copy the link next to it and paste it here – you get the print template on top.
Where the code goes
Four moments when guests like to leave a review
A code in the back room does nothing. It has to be where the guest has a minute and is still thinking about the visit. These four spots work – and the tool has a template for each one:
Google's rules
What's allowed – and what costs you reviews
You can ask for reviews as often as you like. But Google has clear rules, and the text on your table tent counts too. Our templates follow them:
- No rewardsNo discount, no free coffee, no giveaway in exchange for a review – and none for changing or deleting one either.“5 stars = free espresso”
- Ask everyone, not just happy guestsYou may not ask only the happy guests or catch the unhappy ones first (“review gating”).“Loved it? Then review us!”
- Don't script the reviewDon't tell guests what to write, and don't have your staff collect reviews that mention certain content or names.“Please mention our server Jake”
- No fake reviewsNo reviews from you, your staff or bought accounts. In the US, the FTC's rule on consumer reviews also bans fake reviews, and rewards that depend on a review being positive.

One tent, two codes
Menu on the front, stars on the back
Your guests already scan one code at the table: the one for your menu. Put your review request right next to it. In the tool, choose “Menu” for the back and paste your menu link – for example the link to your free QR code menu from momoscreen.
- One tent per tableNo second sign in the way. One table tent, two sides, two codes.
- Your menu stays up to dateWith the momoscreen QR menu, you change prices on your phone. The code on the tent stays the same, so you never reprint.
- Translated for visitorsUp to 3 languages: guests switch at the top of the QR menu. On Google, they can write their review in their own language.
Here's how: in momoscreen, tap “Copy link” on your QR menu and paste the link into the tool for the back side.
To be clear: momoscreen doesn't collect reviews and has no review feature of its own. The review code goes straight to Google.
Questions
Questions about review QR codes
Does the tool cost anything?
No. You don't need an account or a sign-up. Printing, PNG and SVG are free, with no watermark.
Does the QR code ever expire?
No. Your link sits right inside the code, with no detour through our servers. The code works as long as Google knows the link. If you move or Google creates a new profile for you, just make a new code.
How is this different from the Google Maps link?
The Maps link opens your profile. The review link opens the form with the stars right away. Every step in between costs you reviews, which is why the tool checks your link.
Do my guests need a Google account?
To post, yes. Guests who aren't signed in are asked to sign in by Google. Most people are already signed in to Google on their phone.
Why is there no Google logo on the templates?
You can only use the Google logo with Google's permission. That's why the templates use text and five stars – every guest gets it at a glance. You're of course free to use the word “Google” in your text.
Can I ask guests for a review in person?
Yes, kindly, and the same way for every guest. Rewards, asking only happy guests and pressure on the spot are not allowed. Details are in Google's rules above.
What do I do about a bad review?
Reply as the owner in your Business Profile, calmly and to the point. Other guests read along, and a good reply shows you care. Never offer anything in return for deleting a review.
Can I use the code for my hair salon or bakery?
Yes. The tool works for any business with a Google profile. For a link to your website or your Wi-Fi, use the QR code generator.
Do you store my link?
No. Your draft stays in your browser's storage on this device. We never see your link or your texts.
Code on the table? Now add the menu.
With momoscreen, you get your QR menu for free: change prices on your phone, the code stays the same. Copy its link straight onto the back of your table tent.
Just an email and a password. Free, now and later.
