Menu from a photo
Menu to QR code: take a photo, skip the typing
Your menu already exists. Take a photo of it or upload the PDF. momoscreen reads the categories, dishes and prices automatically. You check everything, and it becomes your digital menu: as a QR menu, on your TV and ready to print.
- Free, no subscription
- Photo or PDF
- Nothing without your OK
Two pages photographed, one price added, saved: the menu is live as a QR menu.
What gets read
What we take from your menu
momoscreen only reads what belongs on a menu: categories, dishes, descriptions and prices, just as they're printed. Nothing is made up, guessed or translated.
- Anything in capitals is written normally: “BREAKFAST” becomes “Breakfast”.
- If a category runs over two pages, it becomes one.
- If your menu has no headings, all dishes go into one category with a fitting name.
- Tags only appear if your menu shows them: vegan, vegetarian, organic, spicy, gluten-free or new.
- We leave out your address, phone number, slogans, small print and pictures.
Check
You decide what gets saved
Before anything is saved, you see everything that was read. You can change every name, every price and every description.
- Typos are copied just as they're printed. You fix them with one tap in the field.
- Anything we couldn't read is marked: where it says “Check price”, you add the price. Nothing is saved until every price is there.
- Dishes you no longer have, and whole categories, you simply take out.
- The new categories are added to your existing ones. Nothing is replaced.
- No QR menu yet? Then momoscreen creates one as you save, and your menu is online. Already have one? It stays as it is: you add the new categories there whenever you like.
Afterwards
Add it once, use it everywhere
Once saved, your dishes are normal categories in momoscreen. Everything else comes from this one list. If you change a price later, it's up to date everywhere automatically.
QR menu
Your guests scan the code at the table and read the QR code menu on their own phone.
TV
Pick the categories for your screen. Your digital menu board shows the same prices.
Prefer paper? Then make a printable menu in a style you like, with your QR code.
In other languages
If you choose languages for your guests, new dishes are translated automatically. More in the guide on how to translate a menu.
Tips
Scan your menu: how to get a good photo
The better the photo, the less you have to fix afterwards. A few simple steps are enough.
- 1Hold your phone straight above the page, not at an angle.
- 2Make sure the light is good. By a window often works better than under a lamp.
- 3Get the whole page in the shot, including the edge with the prices.
- 4One photo per page. You read several pages in one go.
- 5Glossy or laminated menu? Tilt your phone a little until there's no glare.
- 6Already have your menu as a PDF? Just upload the PDF.
Your start
Paper menu, PDF or no menu yet?
Whatever you start with, you never retype anything that already exists. And you can mix the ways, for example take photos of your paper menu first and add a new dish by hand later.
You have a printed menu
Take a photo of each page with your phone, right in the app. One photo per page is enough.
You have a PDF menu
For example from the printer, made by yourself or from your old provider. Choose the file on your phone or computer. After that, you change your menu yourself, any time, without a new file.
You don't have a menu yet
Then type your dishes into our menu maker, no account needed. With “Add to momoscreen”, the menu lands in the app, with a QR menu and a menu to print.

Read, not saved
Upload only your menu, no photos of people and no other personal data. The app asks you to tick a box for this before you start.
- Your photos and PDFs are read and not saved afterwards.
- Only what you keep in the check step is saved: your categories and dishes.
Everything else is in our privacy policy.
Questions
Questions about digitising your menu
What owners want to know before the first photo.
Does reading my menu cost anything?
No. Reading your menu from a photo is free in momoscreen, like everything else. There's no subscription and no fee per page.
Which files can I upload?
Photos from your phone or computer, for example JPG, PNG or WebP, and PDF files. You can mix photos and PDFs in one go.
How much work is it for me?
You take photos of your menu and check what was read. No more typing it all out. How much you change afterwards depends mostly on the photo: the straighter and brighter it is, the less you have to fix.
How many pages can I do at once?
Up to 5 files per go. A PDF can have up to 10 pages, and all files together up to 4 MB. The app makes photos smaller for this automatically. If your menu is longer, read the rest in a second go.
How often can I read a menu?
Up to 10 times a day. Every tap on “Read my menu” counts once, no matter how many pages are in it.
How are prices copied?
Just as they're printed, even with a £ sign. In momoscreen they then show as normal prices. If a price isn't clear, for example “8–12”, we don't guess: it says “Check price”, and you enter it yourself.
Does the import translate my menu?
No. All texts are copied just as they appear on your menu. If you've chosen languages for your guests, momoscreen then translates the new dishes automatically, like any category you create yourself.
What about allergens and sizes?
Allergen notes or codes, such as “Contains: gluten, egg”, go at the end of the dish description, just as they're printed. We don't copy your menu's allergen key. If a dish comes in two sizes with their own price, it becomes two lines, for example “Homemade lemonade (330ml)” and “Homemade lemonade (500ml)”.
Does the import replace my categories?
No. The new categories are added to your existing ones. Nothing is merged or overwritten. If a category is there twice afterwards, delete one of them on the categories page.
What if something was read wrong?
Then you fix it in the check step, before you save. Prices we couldn't read are marked “Check price”. Later on, too, you can change any dish in your categories at any time.
Are my photos saved?
No. The files are read and not saved afterwards. Only what you save with “Save categories” stays in momoscreen.
